At an age when most people are just starting out in their careers, fashion designer Rita Liefhebber is already a veteran. She got her start at 15 as a model. Since then, she’s been a stylist, a fashion editor, and now, a designer. Taking a few minutes out of her hectic day, Rita shares some of her beauty secrets with Rouge.
Rouge: What’s your beauty philosophy?
Rita: Keep it clean and simple.
How would you describe your beauty look?
Fresh-faced, with either a pop of color (blended with neutral shimmer) on the eye, or with an orange or poppy-red lip.

What are some of the beauty products that you absolutely can’t live without?
I cannot live without my water-based foundation with SPF, neutral taupe eyeshadow, mascara and cream blush.
How do you change your beauty look for evening?
I create a stronger eye by using a pale shimmery color to highlight my brow bone and the inner corner of my eye, a darker shimmery brown color to accentuate the outer corner of my eye, and a healthy coat of mascara to finish it off.

How does work affect your beauty routine?
When things get crazy, I tend to do my makeup in the cab. I know this is a big beauty no-no.
What great tips have you picked up over the years?
I’ve learned that moisturizer with SPF provides the essential base for makeup, bronzer applied to the cheekbone and under the jawbone contours the face, and that translucent powder that sets your makeup is your best friend.
